Chester Hearing and Balance Services is a fully independent hearing service which provides a full range of high quality private audiological services for adults, children and young people wishing to access these services in a timely manner in Cheshire and surrounding areas. We understand the importance of hearing and ear care and the impact it can have on clients and therefore ensure we provide an excellent client-centred service to all. We are able to ensure that we provide the best care possible by tailoring assessments for each client including the formulation of an individualised management plan. Our team is comprised of a Registered Hearing Aid Dispenser and a Registered Clinical Scientist both of whom are HCPC registered ensuring that we have the necessary training and experience to provide the following extensive range of audiological services:
- Adult hearing assessments
- Children’s hearing assessments (6 months – 18 years old)
- Private digital hearing aid services for adults and children
- Hearing assessments for adults with additional needs
- Tinnitus assessment and management for adults and children
- Sound sensitivity assessment and management (hyperacusis and misophonia)
- Full range of hearing protection & communication systems
- Assistive listening devices
- Swim moulds for adults and children
- Aftercare services (i.e. hearing aid repairs and accessories)
Joining the team in January 2017 is our registered nurse with specialised training in ear microsuction. We are pleased to be able to offer high quality ear care to compliment our full range of audiology services.
Meet the team
Each member of the team at Chester Hearing and Balance Services is registered with the relevant professional body to ensure high quality care. Our hearing aid audiologist and clinical scientist in audiology are registered with the Health & Care Professions Council. Our registered nurse is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
We have strong links with local professionals including the ENT Consultants from the Countess of Chester and Grosvenor Nuffield Hospitals.
Our Hearing Aid Audiologist
Our Hearing Aid Audiologist Sarah Hodgson has over 13 years extensive experience both in the NHS and private sector and is committed to progressing her knowledge. In support of this Sarah has completed her Doctorate of Audiology from Nova Southeastern University Florida. Sarah is the Lead for the Adult Audiology Service at The Countess of Chester Hospital where she has also developed and managed the audiology service for adults with complex needs.
Our Clinical Scientist in Audiology
Following successful completion of a Masters degree in Audiology at the University of Manchester in 2005, Susan has gained extensive experience of providing a full range of audiology services in the NHS. She completed her Clinical Scientist training at The Countess of Chester Hospital where she has progressed to the role of Deputy Head of Audiology and Lead for the Paediatric Audiology Service. She has completed further training in tinnitus assessment and management and has experience of working with adults and children with sound sensitivities such as tinnitus and hyperacusis.
Our Registered Nurse
Andrew studied for three years at the University of East Anglia in Norwich.
He qualified as a registered nurse in 2002. He worked in coronary care and intensive care for four years before moving to North Wales in 2006. Andrew received his specialised training for aural microsuction from the Ear Care Centre in Rotherham.Andrew works closely with the Ear Nose and Throat department at the Countess of Chester Hospital. He specialises in ear care and has worked as part of the nurse-led aural care clinic since 2011.
